Lausanne to Vevey 28/7/17

28/7/17 Friday
Day 1

Lausanne-Vevey 26 km

Cloudy, cool

0530 start.
Walk along lakefront into village of Lutry: quaint, quiet, civilised and pervading the sense of being in France.
Shuttered cottages along the promenade. Gated entrances, expensive cars and grand residences along the high road between the lake and terraced grapevines.

Greeted by a local who has walked some of the VF and plans to recommence- this time with his dog.
Progressively hotter throughout the day. Find ourselves walking on train tracks which we hurriedly and nervously scramble across and then clamber up steps, across a vineyard and back to the road!

Mostly walk alongside the lake on the pavement and look up to hillside vines; the heat becoming increasingly arduous.
Jump in the lake before Vevey: a cosmopolitan place with a busy waterfront with carousel and deckchairs.
Feet sore despite using all three sets of footwear.
No blisters.

No blisters!
